On January 15th during special edition of radio programme Offensywa Deluxe on Polish Radio Three, Artur Rojek, the Creative Director of OFF Festival, revealed the date of this year’s Festival and the first details of the most important alternative music festival in Poland, presented by mBank, the patron of the Festival.
OFF Festival 2010 will take place between 5th and 8th August 2010.
The first main star of the event will be LENNY VALENTINO (PL).
This Polish project has a cult status among alternative music fans in Poland. Its only album “Uwaga! Jedzie tramwaj!” (Sissy Records, 2001) is claimed to be one of the milestones of Polish alternative music scene. After a series of concerts in 2001 during which they were promoting their album, the band in a slightly changed line-up met up on stage only once on 18th August 2006 in Myslowice during the first edition of OFF Festival. (Here you can watch videos from this event: http://teledyski.onet.pl/0,1479622,0,2,teledyski.html )
OFF Festival 2010 will be the only place where the fans will have a chance to see Lenny Valentino in its original form consisting of: Artur Rojek – guitar and vocal, Mietall Walus - bass, Jacek Lachowicz - keyboards, Maciej Cieslak - guitar, Arkadiusz Kowalczyk – drums.
The fifth edition of OFF Festival will be dedicated to the 200th Birthday of Fryderyk Chopin. During festival there will be concerts which main theme will be ‘Inspired by Chopin’. Among the artists taking part in this unique project will be: ambient guru William Basinski (USA), turntable legend Philip Jeck (UK), electronic music master Fennesz (AUT) and – for the first time in Poland - the duo of great experimentators Matmos (USA). The part of each of those concerts will include compositions inspired by music of Fryderyk Chopin.
Apart from the international guests, we can also reveal two Polish artists who will appear at OFF Festival this year:
The audience will have a chance to hear two bands that debuted last year - the avant-pop band Indigo Tree, who released their first critically acclaimed album „Lullabies of Love and Death” (Ampersound, 2009) and the post-metal group Tides from Nebula, who appeared on the music scene last year with their instrumental album „Aura” (Lou & Rocked Boys, 2009).
You are welcome to the fifth edition of OFF Festival – 5-8 August 2010
Even before OFF Festival the fans will have a chance to take part in spring edition of OFF Festival Club. The details are coming soon.
